This is an impromptu shoot of what I wore to work yesterday. There’s nothing “in the moment” about the look. It’s just something I put together for a day on the go. I think these go-to looks tell more about our personal style than the ones that are more thought out and “new”. Given that both my shirt and watch are from the men’s section, it’s safe to say that my go-to style is a mix of masculine and feminine.
If you notice any resemblance of Dries Van Noten’s Spring 2013 collection in this look, you are not mistaken. That was one of my favorite collections. I loved the combination of masculine plaid shirts with feminine embellished skirts. Of course, my shirt is not organza and my skirt is not heavily embroidered, but the spirit of that collection is there. At least, I hope so.
DETAILS: shirt: Old Navy; skirt: H&M (old); glasses: American Eagle; boots: Nine West (old); necklace: real chain from hardware store; nail polish: H&M (Lady Luck)
Had this been a solid colored pencil skirt, this look would have still been perfectly fine. But it’s details like a neon side-stripe and an exposed zipper that elevate it to a whole new level.
I loved these pants as soon as I saw them on ASOS. Once again, it has the elements I love – black and white with a sporty side stripe. These pants will make more appearances on the blog, that’s for sure. For the début, I decided to pair them with a pop of color. The weather is starting to get really warm in Los Angeles, so this was my last change to wear this tissue turtleneck.
I’ve been searching for a white bag for the upcoming spring and summer season for a while now. My search ended with this stunning Michael by Michael Kors Selma satchel. I love the minimal design with the clean lines. It’s also the perfect size – not too big, not too small. A handbags reflects a person’s style as much as clothing and this one has me written all over it. Selma, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
