A bird in the hand…
I’ve always been a fan of graphic shirts, but given that my day job involves graphic design and typography, I’m a bit picky. This one from Forever 21 has the qualities I like – black and white, good font choice and type treatment. And the fact that the message is about my hometown, is the icing on the cake.
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then I hope Hedi Slimane is really flattered because I’m clearly imitating one of his Spring 2013 looks for Saint Laurent. Until I can afford the real thing, I’m afraid I have to turn to high street for my fashion fix. I already had all the elements for this look in my closet, except for the fedora. That’s where H&M New Icons came in. But that didn’t come easy. I searched for nearly 2 months until one of the stores put their display one on hold for me. I am really thankful, because let’s face it, the hat brings all the drama to this look.
DETAILS: fedora: H&M New Icons; blouse: Jason Wu for Target; blazer: Anne Klein, trousers: Gap, pumps: Nine West
I visited The Queen Mary for the first time with the family yesterday. It’s well worth walking on the deck of the ocean liner that was once considered the greatest in the world; carrying Hollywood celebrities, royalty and dignitaries. It officially retired from ocean travel in 1967 and was moved to its current location of Long Beach, California as a living landmark and an event venue and hotel. It is rumored to be haunted, therefore making it an ideal location for Halloween-related events. My visit was somewhat fashion-related as well. Currently there’s a Royal Exhibition, featuring some of Diana’s evening gowns and dresses. Check out the official website if you’re interested in all that The Queen Mary has to offer.
