Support Oceans

As much as I love fashion, I know it’s one of the biggest polluters of the environment. I’m definitely more conscious of my purchases. I’m happy to support the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation with the purchase of this limited-edition T-shirt which will contribute to their ocean conservation efforts.

In Remembrance

armeniaToday marks the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. To this day Turkey hasn’t admitted the massacre of nearly two million civilians. But when it comes to the Armenian spirit, William Saroyan said it best.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have been all fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia. See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread and water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a new Armenia.”

Zebra by Josh BrillGiraffe by Josh BrillRhino by Josh BrillElephant by Josh BrillLumadessa is an art and design label by Josh Brill. It focuses on limited-edition art prints and design products, that implement premium materials and production methods. All purchased prints are signed and numbered by Josh. One percent of profits are donated to animal and environmental charities, which is very cool. The Mammals collection shown above is my favorite, especially the giraffe and the zebra. You can view the complete collection here.

NKLA poster 3NKLA posterNKLA poster 1NKLA poster 2Driving to work this morning, I noticed these posters of dogs and cats on a side of a building. The traffic started moving and I didn’t get a chance to read the copy, but I made a point to remember the title to research further. It turns out that NKLA is a coalition of organizations and passionate individuals dedicated to making Los Angeles a no-kill city. I was saddened to read that last year, more than 17,000 healthy or treatable animals were killed in LA city shelters. If you care about this mission, please visit the NKLA website here to donate and spread the word. I’m already on it!
