There’s been a shift of power in my sartorial decisions as of late. My feet have taken over my head. Their comfort and cool are top priorities, so I’ve been dressing from bottom up. In this case it was my new sneakers – Nike Dunk Sky Hi Mesh in white (surprise, surprise). The feet want what the feet want. They’re the boss of me.

There are a few people whose style is a consistent inspiration to me. Emmanuelle Alt is one of them. Her no fuss approach to style is both enviable and accessible at the same time. You’ll always see her in a great pair of belted pants, killer heels and a basic button-down or a T-shirt. She’s the epitome of effortless Parisian chic.

Truth be told, I bought this cropped top on a whim from ASOS. I jumped on the 90′s bandwagon, if you will. It sat in my closet for a couple of months until I could figure out how to style it. The solution came in the form of this center-slit, longish pencil skirt from ASOS as well. Ultimately, good style is about proportions – balance the short with the long, the tight-fit with the loose-fit. You get the point.

They say you can tell a lot about a person by the friends he/she keeps. That is still true, but these days Instagram may be a better indication, don’t you think? It’s true, I adore all animals, think NYC is the best city in the world, have been more adventurous with my lip color, love palm trees and all things black and white in my wardrobe. Happy Friday!

Not that one ever needs a reason to go on vacation, but these illustrations by French artist Malika Favre want to go somewhere where I can ride a bike everywhere. I love the minimalistic, yet boldly colorful approach of her artwork. Check out the rest of her work here.
